I had not planned to send an update, but since I've been telling some people about the latest news, thought I better....
Wed, Feb 12, the phone pacemaker transmission revealed something wrong. This led to an 8:45am appointment Fri, Feb 14, at Chicago's Children's Memorial Hospital, which resulted in increasing the pacemaker output. Apparently, scar tissue around the leads into the heart is forcing an increase threshold/energy need in the ventricular lead to continue the same amount of energy that had been going into the heart. This increase in output from the pacemaker decreases the life of the battery (now 2-3 years), when more surgery will be needed to replace the battery/pacemaker. No impedance is registering, so the wires/connections are good. But, if the threshold continues to be increased, more surgery may be required to "move" the pacemaker from my abdomin to a shoulder.
Hopefully, at my appointment at Chicago's Northwestern Memorial Hospital Thurs, Feb 27, the threshold will be dropped, thereby increasing the life of the pacemaker. Since the output of the pacemaker has been increased, at times, I've felt the pacemaker pulsing more than my own heart...a somewhat nervewracking feeling, but harmless thus far. In the meantime, I am on steroid medication for 3 weeks in an attempt to decrease the scar tissue to alleviate the threshold need on the pacemaker. [The steroids should have no bearing on the 24-hr urine test & related blood tests that I am to have this week regarding the kidney scarring.]
I'm beginning to wonder how much more of this I can take; the last few days have been rough, on many levels for many different reasons.... Course, it didn't help that all of my plans for the weekend fell through; but, someway, somehow, life goes on....
Speaking of...my "schedule of events"...I'm open to additions (hint hint). Course, I should take advantage of this time & work on other projects besides those scrapbooks...hmmm....
>> Tues, Feb 18 (morning) = to see Gramps in Mt Morris with my Aunt Chris
>> Tues, Feb 18 (evening) = visit with 1st gen MC club members, who saw me in the hospital
>> late this week =24-hr urine test to see how much protein is in my urine, followed by an appointment with the kidney specialist (to be scheduled). These test results will determine the next step(s) in treating my kidney scarring (discovered mid-year 2002).
>> Sat, Feb 22 (day) = Chicago Auto Show. Who else is going?
>> Sat, Feb 22 (evening) = Faith COB (Batavia IL) Spaghetti Supper! You are invited; contact me for details!
>> Sun, Feb 23 (afternoon) = Movie (DareDevil) with my sis & her bf ... want to join us?
>> Thurs, Feb 27 = 8am pacemaker appointment & 8:30am cardiologist appointment
>> Fri, Feb 28 = Return to work. My location was moved while I have been recovering; thus, my 1st day back will be a combination of re-connecting with co-workers, adjusting to a new desk, attempting to catch up on voice/Email messages, etc.....
>> March = Chevy/Vette Fest in Chicago & ROADTRIPS!
>> April = spring & time to get the "baby girls" back on the road .
Perhaps overshadowing...we have water coming into our basement. This means that soon my bedroom & the train room (where our HO scale train & legos are) will be packed up, & I will be "relocated" for a few weeks so the 2 rooms can be "torn up" to locate the source of the water & attempt to repair the problem.
Elsewhere, a few months ago, a friend suggested that I put "words into action" regarding Chevy MC's future. Now, thanks to that friend & a couple others, that suggestion is "live". Please look ( http://www.projectmonte.com/petition/ ) &, if you choose, sign the petition & share it with others. Specific information is required when you sign, but not all information is publicly viewable. The petition is open for signatures for 3 months. It will then be printed & delivered to appropriate person(s) at Chevrolet/GM. If you have any questions/comments, please direct them to Email: [email protected]
