Generally speaking are surgery dates given at time of surgeons Consultation or did you recieve a call with date afterwards ?
Curious it would be nice to know once and for all .. so l can resume my sort term plans.

I was given my surgery date at my first consultation. It was actually only three weeks after my consultation. I was glad it wasn't prolonged. It was just enough time to prepare mentally and do some of the preliminary diagnostic stuff, blood tests, cut scan, X-ray and such. Then right on to the big day

Almost_hectic that's exactly what l'm praying for ! Thx l have waited so long .. lm so over it. Hehe l don't 1ant time to second guess anything at this point let getter done.

I'll cross my fingers. Hoping for all the best for you!

It's probably different for different surgeons. I decided to have my surgery at a consultation in November and I was given a date then but his earliest available date was in early February due to him being in high demand -which I took at as a good sign.

Almost_hectic thx you !!

cldlhc that is so true and l know this surgeon is also ln very high demand. Having said that it's taken over 4 mths to even see him. I also know he is making special arrangements just to see me next week and not even in his regular office. He's made arrangements to meet me even in a different hospital than he regularly works from. They have pushed me to almost the max of opportunity to do the replacement. I am also praying for a very short wait time however realistic it could be a couple of mths.

I told my surgeon at my 9/3 consult that I wanted it done this year if possible. They contacted me several days later with the 9/30 date. I'm having my heart catch today and my caratiod arteries checked on 9/28.

I'm sending good thoughts your way Harriet. I know this has been a roller coaster ride for you and I don't know how you've managed to stay sane through it all. Stay positive and hang tough. Many people are rooting for you to get better as soon as possible.

Honeybunny thank you! Best of luck to you also Heart Caths are not enjoyable what so ever .. had mine on may 15th. You have been blessed in a timely manner.
Much love to you. Xoxo your in my prayers.

Try and have someone be your advocate and look out for your best interests. Stand up for your rights and make sure you are listened to and receive the care you are entitled to. You will come through this.

Thank you MethodAir!
I have 5 great doctors advicating for me not including the surgeon. l am a a pretty tough old gal that doesn't have much trouble telling like it is. And l know they will wouldn't drag this into next year. I just praying for sooner than later. October sounds better than Dec.

Thank you DebbyA and yes Canadian l know there's more thank just me on here and although practices may vary l can only assume that in alot of cases scheduleing for actual surgery would take place during the consultation Or at least that discussion would and date to follow shortly there after. Thank you so much for your wishes.
