I just found out that, owing to pericardial stripping that was performed 40 years ago, surgery to replace my mitral valve 'is not advisable'. My heart is stuck to both the sternum and lungs and separating them will be tricky. I was investigated to see if I was a candidate for the new mitral clip treatment, and, as I am, they have decided to do that instead of the surgery.
Just wondering if there's anyone out there who can chime in on before and afters? or have a reassuring story about how it all went?
I will be getting this done in a couple of weeks and am a bit discombobulated.
Thanks for any input.
