We will be moving to Michigan from Cleveland and I am at a loss at what is the best heart hospital in the Detroit Metropolitan Area. Does anyone have any surgeon/cardiologist/hospital recommendations? I'm going to contact my husband's surgeon to see if he has any recommendations, but I thought I would ask here first. I want to be prepared just in case my husband would require any additional work in the future. The ideal case would be planned surgery...but you never know what's in the cards.

I've had contact with Dr. Stephen Bolling in Ann Arbor. He's probably one of the top mitral valve surgeons in the country. I don't know what else he does.

Welcome to Michigan!

Welcome to Michigan!

I hear good things about both Beaumont Hospitals.
My surgery, however, was done at McLaren in Flint. Dr. Hernando Jara did a fine job, at least I think so. He has a good reputation as a very competent surgeon, and also has a reputation for having short office visits. He told me that about 10% of his surgeries are valve replacements.
The recommendations of your current doctors are probably of greater value.
