Hi all!

I had my 12 yr. old in for her 1st visit with our new pediatrician (since our move) and she heard something she called a venous hum. Has anyone ever heard of this?? I have tried to find some info. on it but haven't found much of anything on it.
The doctor didn't seem too concerned about it but wants to recheck it again in 6 months. The doctor also said that she didn't hear a murmur but that this hum was one of the loudest that she has heard in some time.
Now, as you can imagine, this whole process has me worried....OK scared to death. It's one thing to be dealing with my own heart issues but when it comes to one of my kids it's a whole new ballgame!! :( :(
The doctor said that if in 6 months if the hum is as loud as it is now or worse, we will do an acho. Personally, I say why are we waiting?? :(

Ross,

The Children's Heart Institute Tutorial on
"How the Heart Works" is EXCELLENT !

If you have not yet done so, please add
a link to that Tutorial in the Reference section
so browsers can find it.

Thank you, thank you once again, Ross!:)
You have helped to put a worried mom's mind at rest!
After reading everything, I recalled that the doctor did mention that Megan does appear to have a thin chest wall and that may be why the hum sounds so loud.
Anyway....the info you sent will help me to sleep well tonight!:D

Thanks!!
