Just started taking Provachol a few months ago for high numbers and for a CRP risk factor.

Hated to give in and take it as I was always so afraid of statins. So far so good and I am ever aware of symptoms to be on the look out for.

Does anyone know about policosanol? Been reading about it. A natural substance that claims to offer better results than prescription drugs. No side effects. But my research shows not too many large studies done. But the ones . that were done it seems to be a powerhouse at reducing everything..and safely.

It surely is confusing. One just never knows what to do. But if everything else has failed what else is there to do it seems. I just hate the thought of being on this for the rest of my life.(I'm 60 now).

Any info would be welcomed. Regards to you all.

Blessings

I have been taking polycosanol for about a year. The write-ups regarding its activity seem to make sense to me. It hasn't hurt me so far. However, it has warnings that it is not to be taken along with other cholesterol-lowering drugs.

I also take Pantethine, which is a derivative of a B vitamin. My wife likes beta sitosterol.

My arteries were clear when I had my preop cath, and I'd like to keep them that way. So, it's kind of like elephant repellant - I'm not sure how to tell if it's working...

Best wishes,
