HI folks,
I've been one of the lurkers arund here-often checking in to read all of the insightful news and tidbits that you all provide. I've learned so much here, and for that I thank you all. I was diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic valve 6 years ago at age 35. Since then I've seen a cardiologist several times. He's ordered a few echos and in 2010 a stress echo. I have never received the results from these, although today I put in the order to get my own copies. I have felt that my cardiologist isn't really hearing me when I visit him. I've been seeing him every 6 months for two years now and today when I saw him he mentioned that I was asymptomatic. I almost fell off the table when he said that-since I've been seeing him rregualrly due to symptoms of dizziness, shortness of breath and fatigue! SO I think I'm ready to move on from him. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Heart Valve program at Mass General in Boston. It seems to me that this might be a good option for me. I haven't found anyone else local that specializes in heart valve issues. I'm in southern NH. Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much in advance!

Well, Boston certainly is full of top notch heart hospitals....Mass General, Brigham And Women's are among the best around. If you don't mind the traffic! :)

Hi. My Daughter had AVR in February 2012 at Mass General Hospital. All went well except it caused her Gall Bladder to clog. She went in in a month to have it removed. She had DR Joshua Baker as her surgeon. Everything was top notch and excellent care. I need AVR in the future and I will go Mass General too.

I had two OHS at Mass General and cannot say enough good things about CICU and Step Down Unit (Elison 8) at Mass General. I received excellent care, recovered well and if I should ever require additional heart surgery, there is no question but that I would go to Mass General.

Sadly, my surgeon, the very fine Dr. Alan Hilgenberg, died from a fast growing cancer not too long after my surgery. He was way too young to lose such a fine man who contributed so much.

There is not a 'bad' cardiothoraxic surgeon at Mass General...... they wouldn't be there if they weren't best of the best.
U.S. News just named MGH the 'best' hospital in the country.
