I am wondering if anyone else seems to have issues with the tapes they use for IVs and needle sticks. For both the TEE and MRI, I had more problems with my arms after the procedures than the procedures themselves. The MRI was on Friday and I still have red, raw (healing) patches on both arms where the tape/ patches were placed. I remember having the same problem after gall bladder surgery years ago.

Are there alternative products? Has anyone else had this experience?

Just wondering....

Yes, there are alternatives to use if someone has the kind of reaction you do. Let them know you are allergic to tape when you are asked about allergies. I have seen some awful "tape burns" that took weeks or longer to heal. I know they can be every bit as painful as other types of burns.

I've found that paper tape doesn't give me that "off with the skin" reaction. They use that all the time where we get out blood drawn.
