I don't know why I didn't think to ask all of you before now....

I had a mitral valve repair with an annuloplasty ring. Every now and then, I feel a sensation like my heart is squeezing down on the ring. It doesn't hurt--kinda feels like it would feel if you squeezed a keyring with your hand. Anyone else experience something like that?

Although I also had a mitral valve repair with an annuloplasty ring (as well as having chordae replaced by Gortex), I do not get that sensation. Maybe you should ask your doctor.

I probably should. I don't know what kind of test they could do that hasn't been done already. Since my OHS, for one reason or another, I've had a chest x-ray, CT of my chest, EKG, and TEE. About the only thing left that I could think of would be a cath.

Do you think I should call right away, or just bring it up the next time I see my cardio (Nov. 12)?

Since you are seeing your cardio on November 12, probably you could wait, but others may have different opinions.

That's really a Question for your Surgeon.

I recommend calling his office and talking with either a Nurse or Surgeon's Assistant who typically handle patient calls. They can then ask the Surgeon if it is beyond their experience. I expect that the surgeon's office gets several post-op patient questions every day so yours would just be another call in a typical day.
