Curious what your TAVR experience has been like, how you are getting along and how long has your surgeon estimated your TAVR valve might last. Thanks for your response!

My BAV was replaced with a bovine valve about 3 years ago and my Cleveland Clinic surgeon estimates it will get me 20 years down the road which I think is overly optimistic but I hope he is right. The surgeon said TAVR surgery will be commonplace by that time and not just for high risk patients but mainstream patients as well. I would just like to hear what the experience has been like and how well the patient believes the valve functions etc.

I don't think anyone here who had had tissue valve has had a valve in valve TAVR - it's far too early days in the 'history' of TAVR. Currently it's just high risk patients who have TAVR - no long term studies have been done on any of those. I have a tissue valve and I chose it knowing that I would need replacement surgery one day, traditional replacement. I may be having mine replaced sooner rather than later and I know it will be not be a TAVR - I wouldn't want a TAVR anyway as there's no longer term history of it yet ! Things improve all the time in the world of medicine though so who knows what things will be like in 20 years !

Interesting you say it's far too early for "valve-in-valve" tavr procedures. Edwards had their Sapien valve FDA approved for valve-in-valve today! Of course, like everything starts out, it is just approved for high risk right now..]
But who's had a valve in valve TAVR ? How many people ? And how long have those people lived afterwards ? No one on here has had valve in valve TAVR, never mind only one or two regular TAVR.
