any other squeaking hearts?

Any one have a squeaking heart?

At age 10, our daughter's heart started squeaking -- yes squeaking. It could be heard across the room. Her PCP had never heard a squeaking heart, so immeidately referred her to a cardio. At that point, she was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse. The squeaking continued for about a year. We had to warn her teachers, parents of her friends etc -- not to become alarmed -- this was just normal for her.

Was it the valve that was squeeking?


That's very strange, never heard of it before...


I'm trying to think of what could be "wrong" in a heart that would make an audible sound like that and short of a vessel that was REALLY pinched off (a near-fatal condition in and of itself I would suspect) I can't think of anything that might do that short of an implant and even then, most valves and things "click" not squeek. Even artificial vessels, implanted tubing or whatever, wouldn't squeek like that...

Bizarre.
