I have some side effects from what I assume are the drugs I take. Not only Coumadin but also Amiodorane. I was wondering if anyone else has these. Dry rash on both of my hands, terrible headaches (can't take tylenol every day). Then I sometimes get aching muscles like the flu is coming but I generally feel better the next day. I also had open heart surgery Feb 18 and thought maybe that's why I get the flu like symptoms.

Does anyone know if it's the drugs? Or possibly shed light on the situation.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Al,

I also take Atenenol and have for the last two year, aspirin, and iron pills, for low hemolglobin. I would really lie to get off the amiodorone. Do oyu think that might help the headaches.

Thanks

I don't know if you have read many of the older threads on this forum or not but amiodorone is a drug that a great many of us really shy away from because of so many side effects associated with it. It is a drug that will work when sometimes nothing else will but, I for one, think it should be used for only those cases.

Atenolol made me feel really tired and sluggish. It is a beta-blocker and that is an effect many of them have. However, the longer you are on it the more accustomed you may become to it and not be bothered by the tiredness.

Feburary 18th is such a short time ago that some of your aches could very well be a hold-over from your surgery. It takes a long time to get back "to normal"..........(whatever normal is for you).

Headaches are so disrupting to enjoyment of life that I really hope you get them under control. I've had migraines (mostly occular) since surgery and quite a few others here have had as well. For me, they were more pronounced and frequent the first couple of months post-op but I still sometimes get them. I was prescribed Imitrex which works very well. It only works for migraines and I don't know what kind of headaches you get but it is a thought.

I agree with Betty that it would be very difficult, at this time, to try to sort out the differences between medication-related and surgery-related headaches.

Well, I posted this morning - I am using my son's laptop and I think it only delivers my posts in the afternoon.

What I suggested is that you press the search button above, type in amiodarone and see all the stuff you can find about it. It's a drug that can cause lots of unpleasant things (as Betty said) and a search might give you some clues.
