Ann:
Thank you so very much for the article, which I sent to a friend. Her husband had a heart attack and she believes that his depression is hindering his recovery. Apparently his doctor was worried about prescribing medication. She's going to take the article to hubby's appointment this afternoon. Sounds to me that this will make for a better quality of life for both of them.
Always appreciate you,
Blanche

Zoloft and me

Zoloft and me

well well well....... some things just never change!! I have been gone from here for soooo long.... lots of new faces. BUT, there is Hensylee, with her sage advice....... and just the answer I was looking for.

I have an extensive heart history, and it is mostly boring to anyone but me. Suffice it to say, that after 4 OHS, 2 prosthetic valves, and most recently my replaced FAILED defib..... I finally became depressed. Imagine that.

Have been staring at these samples of Zoloft for about a week. (Too afraid to swallow one.) Reading on line, mostly horror stories.. then I thought ... WAIT!! My old tried and true! My trusty source of REAL information, that relates to ME... Valvereplacement.com. duh... pump head.

So, there is Hensylee's comment and reference to a publication on depression and heart related surgeries. THEN, another about Zoloft in particular in it's action on platelet aggregration. Well, Missie... you pushed me over the edge. I'm taking one tonight. For sure.

Will check back in and update later, now I'm excited to take my first 1/2 pill! Anyone experience tachy or anything with Zoloft. That is my main concern.

Thanks for any input!! And, hello to all my old friends I see here! (Where are the rest?)
Mindy:p

well, hey, Mindy. Somebody was asking about you not long ago. You musta got the message via ESP.

Isn't it interesting that information from this long ago is still pertinent. Hope it answers your situation as you want.

Good to see you.

The horror stories are only one side of coin, and IMHO, a much smaller side. Its good to be informed of the side effects of SSRIs, but don't let that scare you. They can really be a big help. I know some folks on zoloft, and it has been a big help to them, minimal side effects.

Zoloft

Zoloft

I have been taking Zoloft since my valve replacement 3 years ago. It was all so overwhelming at the time with surgery, lifestyle change, and quitting smoking. I don't think it does anything to the coumadin that I know of. I am so glad to hear that it might have some good effects on the heart.

I've been taking Zoloft for about 3 months now and I haven't gotten any side effects whatsoever from it. I'm on it mainly for anxiety and it definately seems to help, I like it.
