I got serious about cross training and found that my cardiovascular system is so strong after the marathon, that I'm able to swim real well. Also wanted to prepare a bit for a beach vacation next week :D . I've incremented the miles every day since early last week.

Swam a mile this morning in under an hour! :) Last time I swam a mile, I was 16 - took me 3 hours and wiped me out for 3 days. This time, I have some newly "discovered" muscles, but otherwise, everything is dandy.

Another week off from running, and I'll be back at it.

Tom,
For comparison, I swam a half mile this morning in under an hour! Actually, it was only 30 minutes, but I really, really had to work at it. Just wait till I get my new valve! We'll make up a team for triathalons! Oops, we need to wait until you hit 50 so we can be in the same age category!

Now aren't you glad I brought that up???????????

Mary,

It was your chatter that renewed my interest in swimming. For that I sincerely thank you. :)

As for the crack about turning 50, I am really looking forward to it. I no longer view 50 as the beginning of the end but as a new beginning. PS, I get to run in a less challenging age category. Those 45-49'ers are one tough bunch. Trouble is some of them will move up with me. :)

Tom,
I'm so glad you're enjoying your swimming. Much like the character Dory, in Finding Nemo all I know to do anymore is: "Just keep swimming"! That motto has kept me afloat for a long time now! :)
