Just saw my friendly cardiologist yesterday afternoon for my semi-annual check-up. This time we did an EKG and office exam/consult. Echo is 6 months old, so next one is set for 6 months out yet. Doc's conclusion? Keep on keepin' on! No changes in my condition noted. BP, heart rate, etc. all well under control (with med for BP). Murmur sounds same as last time. In other words, doing as well as I can be, given the underlying condition. The only thing he suggested adding to my meds is a single 81 mg. aspirin daily, just for grins.

So, looks like I'm still good to go (to the reunion, running, working, all that) as long as there are no surprises I won't see him until next year!

Excellent!

Excellent!

Steve,

That's wonderful news! You should be very pleased and relieved. It is undeniably frustrating to be waiting and waiting, but from the sounds of it, you are not uncomfortable and now you can make some great plans for your upcoming year.

Since I switched cardiologists, I get an extra echo (at 6 months instead of the year) just so she can plug in her own people. That's coming up in about 6 weeks and I'll be very curious to review it. I have learned so much in the last few months, from this site.

Have a GREAT day, breathe in the sweet air of life. ENJOY!!

Marguerite

I envy you. Congratulations once again. I think your just being stubborn, but there's nothing wrong with that. :D

Hey Steve,
Sounds like Great News again. Glad to hear everything is still going Well for you.

What I really think it is, is that you like all the new magazines in the waiting room. :D

I hope you continue to have these Great checkups.

Take Care

Nice to know we don't have to replace our Waiting Room attendant yet. Great news Steve.

Steve,
I imagine the best thing is you can live your life without constantly worrying what the next 3 months, six months, etc. will bring.
I'm hesitant to plan anything more than two-three months ahead at this stage of the game.
I'm on the aspirin regime too; enteric coated so it doesn't hurt my stomach.
Congratulations on your exam.
Mary

Hey Steve,

Happy to hear that your still doing well.. and hopefully that will continue for many more checkups and echos to come. .. I too am in the waiting room but in the slow process of getting something done.

Continue to take care,

Erica

Woo hoo!!!!!!!!! Great news, Steve! Congratulations! I'm glad to know that all is going well for you. So, when do you want to "run" yourself out here to see my "baby girls" to celebrate this most excellent news? ;).

BTW, how are the renovations going on the Waiting Room?

Way To Go Steve!!!

Way To Go Steve!!!

Hi There Steve,

Many congrats on the check up...I have a funny feeling that we are in about the same place as far as conditions go. I have seen my new cardiologist, and he said that my valves are not at the point where anything needs to be done yet, however, the CHF, he said I just have to deal with for now, so I suppose that I am doing ok, but, let me tell you, when I over do....I over do!!! Just wanted to show support. Harrybaby... :D :D :D

Thanks for all the encouragement, everyone (yeah, even you, Ross. . . ). I guess I'm in that "stable" stage where the condition is known but is not causing any immediate problems. I'll be forever thankful to that other doc who recognized the murmur and got me to have it evaluated. Now I know there's something going on and can keep a close watch on it.

I'm happy to have another stable report, but I am a bit paranoid about the inevitable. I do keep a careful watch on myself when I'm exercising, so that I will be aware when things do begin to slide. I'll probably know about it well before the doctors realize what's happening. At least the cardio I'm seeing will be receptive to my telling him what's happening, rather than having me just wait for him to tell me.

Hmmm. . . maybe I'll be able to string this "original equipment" valve out for a few more years. . .
