Hi everyone
well I set a time for the angiogram which is Dec 5,I asked if I could hold off surgery for the valve replacement til after the holidays so far they say yes, unless the angiogram shows other problems. I decided to go with the group of Doctors that had given me the second opion but I feel a little guilty that I didn't stick with the Doctor I have had for the past 14 years. I just felt that seeing I was born with the valve problem and have had minor problems he should have checked sooner or done the echogram sooner or am I over reacting...When I got on the treadmill 2 weeks ago and had chestpains after 15 mins which eased up and were not what he had described to watch for, the pains eased up the next morning but I was exhausted so I called him and he said well I thinks its probably time to replace the valve so seeing I have an appointment in 2 weeks we will probably put you back on the treadmill and see. The next step then would be the angiogram, I felt he didnt seem to think it was that important so I'm not sure if I trust him enough for this type of operation. Still confused I know I don't feel to bright I dont know much about the differant valves except the little I have researched but thats Doctors opinions not the patients

Hi Diana
Welcome, I hope everything turns out OK for you with the angiogram. As far as the valve choice goes I think I would talk to your surgeon about it. He will be the one that has to make the final decision once he gets in there and sees what needs to be done. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care

Dave

thankyou for your prayers

thankyou for your prayers

well the angiogram came out good no blocked arterys just the aorta valve to be replaced, everything has been moved up and I will see the surgeon on monday. The operation will be in the next couple of weeks. Thanks again for your prayers

Diana,

I'm glad the angiogram came out great from the artery point of view. Don't feel guilty about going with the second group of doctors. I changed cardiologists the day before surgery because I felt uncomfortable with the doctor I had been seeing. I love my new doctor and the surgeon I chose. Now I even have to change insurance to keep them, but it's worth it.

I had my aortic valve replaced on July 30 of this year and feel great. The operation wasn't that bad, just good to have it over with. There is some pain, just stick close to the people here. They will help you through it and to know what is normal and what is not. Best of luck!!!!!
Heather

Hey Diana,
Glad to hear there are no blockages. I hope you have a very successful surgery and soon you will be coming down the mountain to that road to recovery. I had my surgery 7 months ago and I can't tell you how much better I am feeling. I keep getting better everyday.
You want to remember just to take it slow and let your body heal.
Like Heather said, just stick around and everyone will help you get though this. Please keep us posted. You are in still in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care

Dave

Hi Diana-

It will be good to get it all over with and not have this hanging over your head anymore. Sounds like things are moving in the right direction.
