Hi all! Sorry I have been quiet and or missing for several weeks but have had a lot going on right now.

Just a little update. Andrew had his first stress test since his icd implant. He did very good! He had been worried about a shock happening during the test. I was worried he would die. But of course he didn't and didn't even go into v-tach though he did have a couple pvcs here and there.

Now he has been cleared for cardiac rehab so I am waiting to hear where we can go and the specifics. He has a visit with his cardio-ep doc next Friday where he will have another echo and check up. This is due to his heart defect and previous valve replacement surgery. We will see if there is improvement or not from his MI also.

Anyways I was just so pleased that his stress test went so well. He's had several over the years but this was the first time I felt concerned with what might happen. He was very well monitored and I felt confident by the time he was doing the test that he would do fine.

Anyone here have experience with cardiac rehab? I am wondering if I should expect insurance to cover it. We had been looking into him doing this since his 6 week follow up after surgery in June but then he cardiac arrested and put things on hold. I was having trouble finding a place that would take him due to his pediatric status. Any experiences?

Things are going better around here. We had to put our lab to sleep around Christmas and that was hard but things are going better and I was so encouraged about Andrew's stress test results.

I will try to be a little more available around here. Good to read about all your doings.

As usual..............

As usual..............

I can't answer your questions, but am so thrilled that Andrew's stress test went well.................YAY!!!! :D I haven't had time to check carepages in a couple of weeks, so I was in the dark that he was even having one.

I'm sorry to hear about your lab, though. How sad! and at Christmas, too!

Sending you hugs. Much love. J.

Like Janet, I can't answer your Qs (sorry!), but am thrilled that his stress test went well!

I've never had cardiac rehab ... so I've no clue what it is like :(.

And, thoughts/prayers/condolences on having to put your lab to sleep :(. in 1997, we had to put our dog, Fibber to sleep 3 days before Christmas...that was not fun....

Good to see you post tonight :).

Hi, I along with the others am so glad things are ok. I did have cardiac rehab after my AVR. My insurance did pay for it, but I had a copay, which was $20.00 for each visit. I did get the hospital to waive some of the copay, it would have been $60.00 per week. I would first check with your insurance company and take it from there. The cardiac rehab was great, it really gives you the confidence to do the exercise while you are being monitored. Hope things continue to go well for you.. Rose

Glad to hear that Andrew had a good stress test and that both your fears were relieved.

Cardiac rehab is the best. Just hope Andrew can cope with exercising with all the old folks who make up most of the population of CR

Because you're monitored full time during cardiac rehab II, you can't overdo it. And they will push you as hard as they can, so Andrew will get the very most out of the experience.

I think probably the best thing about it is that it gives you the confidence to continue with exercise after you've completed Phase II - they can prove to you that your heart has behaved itself and your BP hasn't gone too high, etc.

It was the single greatest aid in my recovery.

Thank you everyone!

Thank you everyone!

Appreciate your condolances for my dog. Wish it hadn't happened but she was suffering from something and wasn't getting better. I reminded myself it could have been my son we were mourning so it kept things a little more in perspective- not that it still didn't hurt.

Wish I knew where the cardiac rehab was going to be so I could call them today with my questions about insurance. We still have medicaid but might be getting insurance through Randy's work sometime this month. Nothing has been decided on that front yet.

Fear is an incredible robber isn't it? I am all for being cautious and wise but I am going to do my best not to let fear control me. Those things that I can't control are still under the control of God. I really needed help getting things under perspective for a while.

I think Andrew will love the attention he will get at rehab and I know he wants to be allowed to do more. He is a little tired of video games.

Well it is great being past this test and going onto our next phase of healing.

Hello Wendy...

I dont think I've met you before...

I am Ton ...and I have 2 out of 3 BAVD sons...

Andrew is definately going to be centre of attention at re-hab...I at 40 am in the same position at my hydrotherapy-class...its cute...and all the grannies are great...full of wonderful advice and the best stories....

I cant wait for our school holidays to finish so I can go back to my regular 3 times a week relaxing with the grannies...while they do these workouts that I am not allowed to do ...quite funny...

cocoalab,

Fear IS an incredible robber ... what an interesting, yet all-too-accurate way to put that.... Aye...scary, isn't it?

Now...as for Andrew's boredom ... if he is into automobiles, have him try the "Knight's Challenge" game in that thread ... he may (or may not) get a kick out of it ;).

Course...I'm off work all next week ... if I feel up to it, and depending on where you are in IL, maybe we could meet at dinner time or something?

*shrugs*

Just an idea, anyway.....
