So I just got back from the Family doctor and I had redness and fluid inone ear. She prescribed a weeks worth of Amoxicillin, 1500 mg per day to clear it. She says it shouldn't interfere with my INR. I've read different things about this, but was wondering what you guys think. My INR has been stable for the past couple of tests and I'm not scheduled to go back until the end of the month to get it checked again.

Generally, there shouldn't be a interaction as it is well documented that amoxicillin does not effect warfarin. But everyone is different and it may slightly rise your INR.

If I were you, I wouldn't fret since your only taking it for a week (keep in mind this medication will stay in your system for a while)

If you really need to know if Amoxicillin will effect your INR, get your INR tested on last day of taking Amoxicillin, that way you'll know for sure.

I have taken Amoxicillin many times over the years....usually due to dental work. Currently I am taking 2000mg/day for 10 days because of tooth absess and pulling of that tooth. I've never experienced INR interference with that antibiotic........but I've learned to never say "never". Freddie has a good idea to keep a little closer look on your INR.

It affected mine and they would ask me what did I take. It might be your metablism is able to work this in your system better. I can't amoxicilin now, but when I did, it did a number for my protime. You are so lucky. Hugs for today.

Had my blood tested yesterday and the Amoxicillin made my INR drop a little. It was 2.0 and I've been at 2.5, so not too bad of a drop. Cardiologist said to up my doseage for today and then get re-tested on Monday.

I use it once in a while, and haven't noticed any effect but we're all different. (Just look at the range of daily doses here on the boards.) No harm in checking, but no point in doing so until you're a few days in.
