Superbob thinks the right David won, but an even better choice would have been Michael Johns, who was booted off several weeks ago.

Superbob also thinks Carrie Underwood singing her new single, "Last Name" (from her fantastic album, "Carnival Ride") was the highlight of the finale show. Carrie is the Idol for all time.

Superbob also believes AI could use a makeover. It is getting a little frayed around the edges. The legendary Simon must be a tad embarrassed for having called the final competition a "knockout" by the other David, the precocious one.

Seven months 'til Season 8!

I look forward to American Idol every year. This one was really good.
I think they choose the best one David Cook. I was very surprised because it seem to lean towards the other David. Carrie Underwood was again great!!
Could of used a different outfit!!! But, her voice is WOW!!!
Simon is Simon ya got to love him.....

I was very surprised. I was rooting for Cook. I think he has the maturity needed. Archuletta has a great voice, but his Dad is clearly running the show. Plus, I just kind of saw him heading down the Clay Aiken path. No real solo career - simply because his type of music isn't all the popular. 12 million votes is quite a bit of a difference in who the country preferred.

Carrie was terrific. She is quite a talent. I like Kelly Clarkson too. I saw an HD concert of her and Reba McIntyre that was incredible. The difference between Carrie and Kelly is that Carrie makes no apologies for being Country. She knows that's her forte and doesn't let anyone try to stear her differently. Kelly is much more than just a Pop singer, but that's where she keeps trying to make her mark and she comes up short.

I am SO happy that David Cook won!! David Archuletta has an awesome voice, but i agree with Karlynn that he was similar to Clay Aiken in many ways, plus i don't think he's mature enough to handle it all yet. David Cook is more mature and more of an original artist.

Did anyone else detect a ?false humility? thing with Archuletta?...Or is just me being judgmental again:rolleyes:

David Archuleta is Cindy's and my favorite. I don't think there's been a better voice on the show than his, MAYBE with the exception of Carrie. Cindy liked David Cook better than me. I don't see the false humility thing at all. I see a clean cut wholesome American kid who can flat out sing.

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, I certainly don't have a problem with yours. Just adding my little two cents worth. I'm in the minority, but usually am in these things.

Cindy adds: We also really like Syesha and Michael Johns also, but David Archuleta was our favorite from the very beginning.

No offense taken my friend:)?.It was just something that I had an itch about throughout the season?.DW told me I was FOC and she knows me pretty well:D

I liked both the Davids so I would have been pleased however the vote went. This season was so much better IMHO than last year. I thought the final last night was really well done. There was only one in the top twelve that I didn't enjoy at times and that was Amanda. Everyone else did have real talent.

I don't think David A had false humility. I think his stage dad was what really bugged me. I found myself wondering whether he was pushed so hard into singing that he might not really be aware of what he wants. They showed a video at the beginning of the season of him serenading a group of the Idol contestants a few years ago in a hotel lobby. (You know his Dad had to take him there.) I just think that when he's a legal adult and can tell his Dad to scram, he'd be a better choice. But his Dad got banned from being backstage and having anything to do with the rehearsals.

I liked David A's individual performance last night with the one group (the guy at the piano singing) who's name I can't remember. I didn't realize it was David until I saw a close up. I thought it was a good sound for him. That's when I thought that David would be a better singer with a group than trying to do a career based soley on ballads which is where they'll probably try to head his career.

My wife thinks the same thing about me. All season long I gave Simon an ear full; he never heard any of it . Oh, but my wife did, so she certainly knows my evil side. I'm actually glad for the AI season to end; it does get tiresome, with all of the highs and lows and peaks and valleys and hits and misses and boos and hisses, ad nauseum infinitum.

Agreed, I didn't think that clip of him singing a torch song from "Dreamgirls," to Kelly Clarkson and company, benefited his image. He'll be better off without too much parental pressure on his career.

You are so right! Take Amanda out of the picture and this was probably the overall most talented Top 12 yet.

David Cook is from the Kansas City area and last night the town went nuts:p They are going to name something after him-a street or sign when you get to his town of Blue Springs, Mo....
