Hi, today is the BIGGEST DAY IN SPORT in Ireland. Its the ALL IRELAND HURLING FINAL and Kilkenny are playing Waterford. We have won the last 2 years and if we win this will be the 1st ''three in a row'' ever.

''Hurling'' is one of our national sports. Its a fantastic, fast and very tough sport and the level of fitness is unbelievable.

Many years ago ''John Wayne'' was in Ireland and went to see the all ireland hurling final. At half time he was asked 'would he like to get a 'hurley'' and go onto the pitch and have a 'go', he replied....''well I sure as hell wouldnt want to go out there without one''.

Did anyone watch it? Wayne??

Is this the sport that was started by caber tossing or is that totally
different?
I hear Celtic sports can be pretty rough.
I just love anything Celtic and especially historical, I would love to visit
Ireland,Scotland and England.

No Dina, thats Scottish.

Hurling is played with a 'Hurley' ...its similar to a hockey stick i guess, but a very different game. The ''ball'' is also wooden wrapped in leather, called a 'slither'.

We are winning 3 goals and 21 points to 8 points.....yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Ross, unfortunately Im a bit 'rusty' at the moment....but you never know when a photo might appear of me brandishing my 'hurley' and 'slither'.

HIP HIP HOORAY FOR KILKENNY ! ! ! !

BONZO : not bad, Bonzo, not bad - you can even see the bruises on some of the players !

At least us Scots play more civilized games like caber-tossing, rugby and relax by listening to nice soft melodies on bagpipes :D

Looks kinda like field hockey, but I'm sure its different.
