Haven't seen it mentioned yet, but news reports say Alan Thicke died due to a aortic dissection. Refers back to John Ritter's passing. Makes me wonder if he had undetected BAV, but article indicated no autopsy.

That's too bad an aneurysm (assuming one was present) was not detected. Article was not clear if it was ascending or descending aorta.

I still get the 'Growing Pains' theme song stuck in my head from time to time.
 
I saw that this morning, also, and like you, immediately thought of John Ritter. Then I thought of folks here who have escaped the same fate due to diagnosis and surgery. Yes, getting the news that one needs OHS is daunting but it's better than the alternative.
 
An aneurism can happen very quickly. And that is what happened to Alan Thicke. You never know when it will happen till it does.
