Birky

Do you know of any anti inflammatory that can be taken when you are on Coumadin? I had taken Vioxx previously but that really does a number on your INR. Any help would be appreciated.

Birky,

I'm not Al, but I thought I might give you a "heads up" until he comes along.

My Dr. has told me that Celebrex is OK for anticoagulation patients. If you can get some free samples from your Doc, it'll save you a bunch. Celebrex isn't cheap.

Thanks,

Thanks,

Did you have any trouble with your stomach when you took these? I did last time I tried but at this time, I think that I would try them again since some days I am really hurting.

Are you sure that it was the Vioxx? The package insert for Vioxx says to expect about a 10% increase in the INR. So an INR of 3 would be expected to go to about 3.3.

In Colorado, many of the insurance plans that require prior authorization for Vioxx or Celebrex for most patients will approve them if you are on warfarin. As far as I know, they are the best non-narcotic prescription drug choices.
