Two days ago, after the rain had stopped, it was breezy and cool. Cool is relative as the high was around 80, but for Texas, that's great. Last night, after the rain had stopped, still cool and breezy, high yesterday was 85. Today, the predicted high is 90, but with 74% humidity, the heat index will be 105-109! Ahhh....Autumn in Texas! Can't ask for anything better. NOT!

Yes, here on the coast it was great for several days! We are currently back to HOT AND HUMID! Oh well, it will be at least another month, before it's what I call "normal hot". I actually love our winter. Chilly with the rain. As long as it doesn't flood. I LOVE the rain. Guess I'm a bit strange.

I'm rather tired of the RAIN!!! We've had grey skies all of September and into October, with few breaks. Blech. Yeah, I'm grateful the lake are full, and I know the folks in Austin area need more rain to break their drought, but GEEZE. The mosquitos will carry you away! I'm sure it's not helping the state fair ticket sales.

Are you sure we're not in Seattle or Portland? ;)

I heard something about ticket sales being down for the State Fair. However, that could be partly due to the economy.

I'm glad to hear that it is still warm there. I have a wedding in Dallas towards the end of this month and both of the dresses (can't make up my mind!) I have bought to wear are sleeveless. Even though they are both wool, I was concerned that I would get cold, but obviously not!

Kim

Kim, don't be so sure! I'm sure you've heard the saying, "If you don't like the weather, wait a little while, it will change." That is very true for Texas. The end of the month could see balmy temperatures or freezing temperatures or anything in between! You will probably be fine, but you might consider a light jacket or wrap.

I went to the grocery store on Saturday in shorts and t-shirt. It was about 70-75. There were people there in wool pants and sweaters. We like our winter clothes and we tend to get them out when the temps drop below 80!

Yeah, but I'd still pack a shawl to throw over my shoulders if I were you....just in case. Never know when the weather's going to change! :)

Yep, you beat me to Kim's reply.....absolutely true! :)

Kim:

Is the wedding during the day or at night? During the day you should be able to forego a shawl, unless you tend to get cold anyway.

Of course, I can recall a few times where we had threat of snow around Halloween and I flew up to Colorado Springs for the weekend. It was fairly balmy and dry in the Springs, but not in Dallas-Fort Worth.

We had a couple of "cool" days in the mid 80's but we are back into the mid 90's! YUCK I want some cooler weather...low 80's would be fine

I just got off work (here in good old Missouri) and I just about froze. It's about 50 degrees and dropping. My husband is so cold natured that he turned on the furnace a couple of days ago. I guess it's time for the old jacket to come out!:( I love the fall time of the year. The trees are starting to turn and the funny thing is that my roses started blooming so beautiful last week. I guess they like the cooler weather. I don't like to think about the ice and snow that seems to come with winter. The cooler weather I can handle. I sure hope this winter is a mild winter.

I'll take autumn anytime and anywhere (almost) over any other season...the 50's and 60's are much more comfortable for me over the upper 80's. The brisk air,the leaves turning multicolored, knowing that soon families will be getting together for Thanksgiving ,etc. Also,I must admit, that Halloween,
or Samhain, is one of my favorite nights to go out to a club or party.
So, has anyone decided....what are you all gonna "be" this year?!
Since I havent lost my weight yet.I think I might go out as an old crone..
that way I wont have to do too much to get ready!!:D

What Autumn???

What Autumn???

We had a very hot September, highs in 80s to 90s and lows 50s to mid 60s until September 28th, the end of summer...

Actual temperatures:

9/28 high 92° (record for the day) low 55° sunny with high clouds.
9/29 high 71° (only temperature on average) low 45° very windy, cloudy.
9/30 high 51° low 38° (light rain, windy)
10/1 high 54° low 29° (clear, very windy, ran sprinkler to help garden) Weather prediction at the time said only night below freezing... Hah!
10/2 high 60° low 30° (partly cloudy, very windy then clouds, then clearing)
10/3 high 40° low 32° (very heavy snow, collapsed roof at my Dad's clock shop, and damaged trees--about 2" rain equivalent at our farm),
10/4 high 41° low 27° (lingering snow, later partly cloudy, garden still being sprinkled--ash tree branch over carrots and corn)
10/5 high 41° low 29° (garden a sodden mess from all that water...)
10/6 high 55° low 29° (I think I'm just going to wet it enough to try to save the tomatoes and carrots, and let the rest go...)

I guess we skipped Autumn, except maybe 9/29, and a token 60° on 10/2. Here's a picture of our deck early morning October 4th, about 8 am. This was exceptionally dense and slushy snow. There's still some snow here and there outside today 10/6.

Autumn in New York is the best season for me. We had a pretty humid summer, I hardly went outside after my surgery...could not breathe with the humidity...docs told me to stay indoors and walk. Give me the 50's & 60's anyday..
Looking forward to Halloween, hope to be up and out to the Village for the Parade...that's only if I get past the pericarditis setback. Which is the reason I am up posting at 3:06 am..waiting for the pain meds to kick in.

We had a few nice cool days but now it’s back to typical SC weather ... “if you don’t like the weather wait ten minutes and it will change.” .. This week back on the yoyo:rolleyes:

Wed ... 85°F | 52°F
Thu ... 79°F | 58°F
Fri ... 86°F | 65°F
Sat ... 81°F | 58°F

rain (again) in Atlanta. but temps are wonderful. Fall is so beautiful. leaves turning, grass not leaping skyward so no mowing, people are outside and having a wonderful time, the fair is about to open - and that's what fall is all about, I guess. have fun til it gets too cold, I think.

It is the best season for Ny isnt it?
Halloween in the village sounds like a great idea...and here's hoping we will both be well enough to go:)
