Hi all,

My cardiologist put me on400mg amardrone and warfin before thanksgiving and a week later my HR has not changed Blood pressure is normal.

Iam nausas and have a constant headache. any ideas on how to get back to sinus rythum.

Thanks for comments

I don't think there's really anything you can actively do to get back into sinus rhythm. The amiodarone usually helps, although you may need to stay with it for a while. After my aortic valve replacement, I had some nasty afib for about the first month or 6 weeks, but they kept me on the amiodarone for three months, along with the warfarin. I was also taking a beta blocker, which I still take nearly 2 years later, although at a much reduced dosage. I would say to give it a couple of weeks, then if it persists, call the cardio. There are other drugs and things they can do, but only the docs can tell us what is likely to work for each of us.

Hey jimw,

I've had two episodes of a-flutter and was put on amiodarone after surgery. I had a cardioversion done prior to leaving the hospital and that stopped the flutter for a couple of weeks. I had another rough bout with flutter over the labor day weekend of 4 Sep. My heart rate climbed into the 140's and would not come down. Ended up in the emergency room and another three day hospital stay and another cardioversion. The flutter stopped and HR returned to normal and I began cardiac rehab. My cardio was pretty sure that the flutter would return and suggested an ablation procedure. I had the ablation on 27 Oct. All seems fine, no issues since the ablation. I do still have occasional PVCs but my cardio said no worries as long as they are under 20% of the time. The ablation also allowed me to come off the amiodarone. I stopped taking it the day I had the ablation. I still have problems with lightheadiness and dizzy spells. A lingering effect of the amiodarone and the beta blocker I take for BP. I would like to reduce the BP medication to one 25mg tablet per day to see if that helps with the dizziness and also hopefully improve my run times and endurance.

hope this helps and ask about the ablation procedure.
