Hello all. I hope I can get some feefback on this matter. I have been SOB, fatigued, low blood pressure, out of whack Coumadin levels so my cardiologists has an echo done. The echo indicates moderate tricuspid valve leakage. He said its nothing to worry about. This was told me to me in the beginning when I was first diagnosed with mitral valve leakage. And here we are 2 surgeries later. I've made an appointment at Duke to see Dr Glower who performed my last (10 hours) mitral valve replacement to get his opinion on whether its requring surgery or is it soemthing to live with. Im so tired of being tired. This is getting old. Can I please get some info...is there such a thing as a tricuspid replacement or repair? Any info would be appreciated.

When I was having surgery this past winter at the Mayo Clinic, I met a woman who had her tricuspid valve replaced with a pig valve of some sort. So, it can be done. I do now know how often tricuspid valves are repaired verse replaced. I am sure someone will come along to answer your questions with more detail than I could.

Good Luck,

Brad

Hi Alicia,
My tricuspid valve is bovine which is cow. It was REPLACED along with my mitral and aortic which are St. Jude Mechanical. The Dr. said my bovine should last at least 20 yrs. I hope longer. Good Luck:)

Yes, they can be.

Yes, they can be.

Certainly not as common as the other valves, but they are both repaired and replaced. Katie's valve buddy in Michigan, Tommy, had his tricuspid valve repaired and then a year later replaced with a carbomedics mech valve. Hang in there and good luck. We will add you to our prayers. Hugs. J.
