I gave blood today.

I haven't been able to do that since I was diagnosed with moderate aortic stenosis. It's been fifteen months since I had the Mosaic installed, and a year since I was off of the post-surgical Plavix. I checked with the cardio and he said it was all right, and the NY/NJ Red Cross asked a lot of questions about my answers to their questionnaire, but I was eventually fully cleared to donate for transfusions again.

I used to give four times a year. I have felt guilty every time I've watched the blood collection crews go through my workplace, many of whom know me well and stop on their way to say hello.

There was no dizziness or anything from it. It went just like it used to in the years past.

Small thing, but it felt good.

Best wishes,

Well done. I used to feel really good about donating blood (also used to 4x/year) until I had the bad luck to need OHS and ended up on coumadin. Now I have to be satisfied with donating time at the hospital.

I hope you get to continue as long as you want to.

Good for you Bob. I used to donate all the time too but can't now since I have diabetes and leukemia. I guess that makes my blood bad!!

Well I'll be doggone.
I thought blood donating ended with valve surgery. Maybe there's hope for my reaching the gallon club after all. :)
