Lovely Picture....so peaceful!

Dennis it's too bad that your horse experience was not the greatest....they are wonderful, kind, intelligent, spirited animals; when raised with love and respect.

Heck Dennis,

Yo' is supposed t'ride them, not STAND IN FRONT OF THEM! :p

Had one stomp down on mah tennis shoe (ah was able t'curl mah toes outta th' way in time) once.  :p Talk about "UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL".

Bubba :)

Confession:

Confession:

The shoulder bite story did leave out a few extenuating circumstances. The horse in question belonged to my grand-father. This took place 45 years ago when he had a wheat farm in Kansas. I was a city kid who had only seen horses in cowboy movies. Against all instructions, I climbed under the electric fence, walked up to this old, gentle, pinto horse named Paint. I was pretending I was riding her, and shot off my new cap gun right next to her ear.

She then grabbed my shoulder in her mouth and threw me over the wire to the other side of the fence (where I had promised my folks I would stay). She went back to grazing, and I concluded there was no way to tell the story without getting a second painful lesson from my Dad. The horse couldn't tell anyone, and I knew better. It was our secret until the day Paint died. All things considered, I think she handled the situation very well.

Thanks for the laugh! That was great.

Lesson learned

Lesson learned

Probably the best lesson you learned.....so did you listen from that point forward? Horses have an amazing sense of humor.

This picture is very near our house, but at a significantly lower elevation. The last time I spent quality time with a horse it bit my shoulder.

The last time I spent quality time with a horse, I decided it was better just to fall off rather than continue the ride.
That was about 35 years ago!:D :p

Dennis, I apologize for this slightly off topic post, but it is HORSE related.

The last time I spent time with a horse....err, I should say horses....was at Keeneland race track in Lexington. Cindy and I went with her mother a couple weeks ago. We stayed for eight races. Guess how many winners I picked? That would be 7 out of 8....87.5% accuracy rate. I am not known as a gambler, so anyone I've told to this to says "NO WAY". Well, yes way. I didn't bet much, but we came out ahead and we paid for dinner that night.:D

You should take great satisfaction that horses are, apparently, great judges of character. As for myself, any horse than wants to teach any additional lessons will require access to a long distance call. (Unless they want their picture taken). Horses are some of the most beautiful animals in the world, as far as I'm concerned.

Dennis you are absolutely correct.
When a horse is your friend, he is truly your friend; he will protect you with his life and never betray you.
