Hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out a bit and share any input they
have on blood pressure and tachycardia.. Low to normal bp readings and tachycardia not well controlled by toprol and cardizem? My EP just put me on a med called Furicet (sp??) to regulate bp and thus hopefully reduce tachycardia along with the lightheadedness..

What is side effects this or these drugs? (If anyone knows)..

Any blood work or follow up needed? I just started it last night and see ep card in 2 weeks...

Is the weight gain just aweful? Could this be a sign of valve worsening..

Sorry so many questions.

Erica, you should have received an 'information sheet' with your prescription. A good one will include a list of possible side effects listing everything under the sun that 'might' happen as a result of taking this drug.

More complete information can be found with the 'package insert' that comes with the original container. Ask your pharmacist for that paper (and buy a magnifying glass to read it!).

My weight has been stable while on Beta Blockers, but I've found it difficult (impossible?) to lose weight. My cardiologist suggested that the Beta Blocker 'may' reduce my metabolism making it more difficult to shed the extra pounds. :(

Consulting my big book of pills....

Well there's a drug called "Fioricet" but it's a pain reliever and one of the side effects is light-headedness...

There are a couple others listed in my book but they're not really indicated for BP or rhythm problems.

Ask the doc or the pharmacist.

You might try the pharmacist first if there's reason to suspect your doctor has you on something you shouldn't be.

Thanks guys for the replies...

Harpoon the Florinef is a drug used to regulate and beef up blood pressure to regulate it from dropping all over the place. This in turn will help the toprol to do it's job of keeping heart rate down. As one overworks to compensate for teh others lack of.

Don't know if that just made any sense. but it is the right med.

thanks again,
Erica
