Right to the point. Has anyone had blood in their urine do to heart disease? ? ?

Why l am asking !!

When l saw my Surgeon Sept 22 after a long list of him questioning my symptoms he had one last question and that was of course was or did l have blood in my urine. The truth was although l suspected l did l did not know for sure so l simply said no l don't think so not that l know of.
He looked puzzled.
So fast forward to yesterday when at my GP's office l said l thought l should have a urine test knowing with curtainty just a good gut feeling that it would be possitve. I am guessing for about 6 to 8 mths my last urine test was probably 1.5 yrs ago. But that question and puzzleD look has never left me.
So possitve for blood. My GP looked very shocked at the result but after discussion he but it on my trip to Calgary for pre op administration and said if the don't deal with it we will after surgery.

No l do not have a track infection or bladder infection other than frequency over tge last year.
Is this possibly heart related ??
Has anyone else had this problem prior to surgery valve or other heart related issue?
Thank you looking forward to some responses!
Even just a yes or no !

Again thank you for responding.
The sergeons questions could have only been responding or questioning all of my symptoms as he said he could curtainly get ride of most if my symptoms but was afraid not all referring to my Lung disease symptoms.
Thx you will be interested in seeing other response as well.

AZ Don
Thank you !
I have GoogleD this a couple of times ..
Strepthroat or streptococcus listed and obviously the reason or result of my rheumatic health disease however that has long since been gone for many years .

My people tell me to stop Googlen everything lol
And it could totally be nothing or nothing serious at least. Just curious to no for obvious reasons and because my sergeon asked the question but like l mentioned l have many other symptoms but l swear l am not neurotic. Just curious.
Thx you Don !

Nor me, any blood that is.

They are very keen that a person does not have any type of urinary infection though as it can go to the heart valve causing damage, and blood in urine can indicate infection. I developed a urinary tract infection post op in hospital - they did lots of tests to determine the bacteria, gave antibiotics and did echocardiogram as they were obviously concerned (ha - I didn't have the infection pre-op so you can guess it was a hospital related infection).

I did once due to INR running VERY high (pushing 10! - darn cranberry juice). Kind of indirectly due to my heart issue. Wouldn't be taking warfarin if I didn't have a mechanical valve. Otherwise - no.

Paliogirl. . Interesting!
I'm a little shocked that my GP didn't offer up a persciption for antibiotics 😕 he just kind of told me to have everything delt with when l go to Calgary. l am unaware of ifection but of course as you say blood indicates infection which you would think should be cleared up pre surgery. So l will definitely have the discussion with someone at pre administration.
Thank you Anne Xx

Superman ..... Back away from the cranberry juice lol !!
Thx you for your input lm learning all the things l have to look forward to. The diet will definitely be a life changER.

Aside from a few notable exceptions (which really if you think about it in a paleo sort of way are quite unnatural) there really are no diet changes.

Cranberry and Grapefruit juices are standout problem foods for almost all medications.

http://www.drugs.com/slideshow/grape...eractions-1028

Grapefruit (Citrus paradisi) is nutritious fruit full of vitamin C, antioxidants, and a tangy-sweet flavor. However, research points to over 85 drug interactions - 43 of which may be serious - with grapefruit. Medications can interact with all forms of grapefruit - the fresh fruit, juice or even the frozen concentrate can result in problems. Interactions may occur with commonly used drugs - such as those that lower cholesterol, treat high blood pressure, or fight cancer.
The current craze for juicing all manner of things results in consumptions at levels you just wouldn't do naturally. Look at the mound of grapefruits needed for 2liters of juice and tell me your likely to eat that many (without sugar) in normal life.

:)

Thank you Pellicle l did not know that about juices and medications aha in thank you. Also not a huge grapefruit drinker or eater especially without sugar.
I like lots of the following which my understanding l can't have any of once valve replacement is completed and Warfarin or Cudomin is used.
Chocolate coffee fresh vegetables or veg cooked and lots of Caesar salad And of course Pepsi l like my Pepsi.
What is the real truth about thsee food and beverages and Warfarin?
Thx

Hi

well its worth knowing that sugar is relatively new in our diets especially in the shockingly high (nearly lab rat test) doses westerners take it in. It is impliated in many health problems. Not least because of the fructose component of the molecule. So yes, high fructose sweetened drinks are sort of like an addictive toxin. Fructose is the only sugar (as far as I know) that is metabolised by the liver and has hormone interactions)

Just for starters

so there is a strong case for overconsumption ... and that its killing you.

Ok Coumadin IS warfarin. Warfarin is the common chemical name, Coumadin is one of the brands. So its like you have a vacuum cleaner which you "refer to" as a "Hoover" when in fact its a GE product.

Chocolate coffee fresh vegetables or veg cooked and lots of Caesar salad And of course Pepsi l like my Pepsi.
What is the real truth about thsee food and beverages and Warfarin?
Thx

the real truth is that none of those will significantly impact your INR. Unless you sit down to a salad with one pound of spinach (I encourage you to go the the shops, and by a pound of fresh spinach just to look at it) per meal. Lettuce is not high in Vitamin K. It is Vitamin K that is the key to this, as warfarin essentially causes your body to deplete it faster. So if you wish to quickly re-establish coagulation for a warfarin patient (say, in an ER) you give them a shot of Vitamin K.

also, give up the Pepsi ... its killing you. (especially if you drink more than one can per 2 days.

I recommend you listen to this podcast

PS: my first degree was biochemistry ... so that explains much of my thinking.

Thank you ! I knew you must of had some sort of Scientific background with all the information that you provide to this forum so thank you for. I am aware that all that sure isn't good for you and although l say l like my Pepsi l drink it moderation and quite honestly not quite ready to ride all of my bad habits. Or for that matter all my favorite things at one time. It's good to know that l am still able to eat salads and vegetables also in moderation.
I listened to a good portion of your podcast link which by the way is interesting and l will finish listening as time allows.
Thx you !! For sharing your knowledge with me.
