tonight daughter and I were at WalMart for our regular Friday grocery shopping. I was in one of those motorized carts, so I was lower than everyone else. A guy (from the country below us) rushed up behind me, waving a cap, said he only had one item and he wanted to get ahead of me (well, he motioned because he didn't speak English). I waved him on, but he butted in front of the girl before me, as well. She was appalled but let him in because she couldn't do much else. He seemed to be in a hurry. Since I was at a different eye level, I could see the back of the guy's legs. There, in plain sight, was the tag strip that's on all jeans. I said to the girl in front of me that he must be stealing them (and WEARING THEM RIGHT IN FRONT OF GOD AND EVERYBODY). She watched my cart while I walked up to the cashier, whispered in her ear the situation. Then when I got back and sat down the girl said the SHIRT he was wearing also had tags on it. The cashier managed to find an 'in charge' employee, told her and she went to get someone (manager). When this guy's turn came, he mumbled something in Spanish, turned and walked back the way he came. I feel sure he knew I had ratted him out. When the manager got there, it was probably too late. Can you believe the gall of someone wearing an entire outfit right out the door - I hope he never made it to the back door or any other cashier.

P.S. we forgot to look at his SHOES but I bet they were new, too. He was wearing one of those do-thingys on his head and it apparently belonged to him. It was definitely not new.

Yikes Hensy....That WAS some nerve...

Yikes Hensy....That WAS some nerve...

That seems to be happening more and more up here in NH as well, and it's a shame because then it just adds to the cost that we have to pay when we buy something. Hope this doesn't happen to you again...Harrybaby :D  :D

Ann,
Good for you for trying to stop him! If more people would get involved, there would be a significant reduction in shop lifting. :)

If he was going to get caught stealing.......maybe he should have tried a higher end store like Nordstroms. :D Crazy......!

while we are on the subject....

I was just sitting on my porch watching the distant traffic going by out there on the highway. There's also a railroad there - a train was passing, carrying boxes on flatcars. On each flatcar were two of those big boxes the size of semi trailer ones. Most of them showed names from foreign countries - china, Hamburg (Germany) - other oriental names. Last week I was in Atlanta and my girls took me shopping. I always check the labels in garments and in a couple of the stores every single label said 'made in Korea'. What the heck is happening? Where did America go?

My nephew was out shopping with his mother when he picked something up and was so very excited. He just couldn't believe that the item he was holding was actually made in the USA. He said everything he has ever seen has always said China, Japan, Taiwan etc.....He is ten years old. So sad isn't it?

Gail

PS
My six year old daughter also happened to ask me a question recently. She wanted to know why most things are made abroad and not here in the US. What a question coming from a six year old. Children are so very observant. They realize much more then we give them credit for.

My class used the computer to make a class graph each day last year. One of the things we graphed was where our shirts were made. I didn't realize how involved Guatemala is in the clothing industry. There were some tags that said something like "Made in ***X using materials from the USA." Americans have very high salary expectations compared to the workers in these countries.

I agree with Gina regarding shoplifting from Walmart. Then again, I had a garage sale awhile back and noticed one person who was putting clothes in their stroller. They also gave the young child a toy that was for sale. I figured that anyone who would steal my used stuff probably really needed it, so I just said, "I know your child will enjoy that truck because it was one of my son's favorites."

Years ago..at Christmas time..I was shopping at K-Mart (Wal-Mart_ had not come to town.....I put my pocketbook on bottom of buggy and laid my Grandson (maybe 6 months old) on top ( in his carry-on...) I think I had made a few small purchases..when I got to front to pay..My Pocketbook was gone..  They (cannot say what I want to name them)Try A.H'S... :D had reached down through my Baby and brought it up.. I had my hand on the Buggy all the time..Just so crowded in the aisles..I'm sure there were more than one...Thank goodness. they didn't get my baby   and I had bought all my Xmas presents..for all my money, checkbook, was gone..Canceled the checking account in 1 hour. No credit cards...bonnie

Made in the USA

Made in the USA

As most of you know we have a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and would you believe all the Harley spares are made in Taiwan.

The leather jackets and trousers are also made in Taiwan but the T shirts are made in the USA

We are having similar problems here in the UK, they have decided to give some of the paramedics motorcycles and like our police they will be riding BMW's

At least the US cops ride Harleys

what happened to British made products ?

We import everything . and now almost all of our call centre jobs have gone to India,

We are rapidly losing our identity here in the UK
