Curtsmum

I have had more time to think about what Curts consultant said and she didn't seem to be worried about him what so ever, she didn't feel there was any rush for surgery or for the cardiac cath, allthow she says the cath will be at the end of january.(ye right) I should be happy with this and i am pleased but when i asked about what the other consultant had said, she said well 8 months ago it may have been worse, so i dont know if this means hes getting better or if she is covering for him, does anybody know if mitral stanosis can go from worse to better, because we have been through 8 months of pure hell and it seems like its been for nothing to me, sorry for ranting on but as you can tell im still a little annoyed.

Can you get a second opinion? I am not familliar with childrens repairs etc,:(
But I would think you could get another opinion. Sorry I cant ease you, but wished to answer so you arent alone...love the pup

Maybe two out of three? Seek a third?

It's not going to get better, it's only going to get worse. Meds may slow it down some, but not likely. Wish I had something good to tell you. :(

I didnt realise Curtis had stenosis of his mitral valve, i thought he was the same as Chloe.
I'd hate to get your hopes up for no reason but I do know 2 people whose children had this and it did get better, to the point now with one of them that they think he won't require his replacement any more. I'd say this is pretty rare but i definately know it can happen. Is he on any drugs? Cos ones like captopril and diuretics can help too.
I'd ring and ask for it to be clarified to you - ask for a copy of the letter from the appointment to be sent to you too. You could ask for them to tell you the extent of his stenosis now to what it was then and compare numbers.

Hope you get your answers
Love Emma

Thanks for the replys, Emma she is still saying that he needs surgery but just not yet, we have been told that it is too far gone to be repaired again, so i dont see any chances of it getting better but iam annoyed how one consultant can say it needs sorting soon, he was more worried about the pressure, and then this one not that worried because we was just ploding along waiting untill he was 13, untill we was told different. I'am going to write a letter to Dr Patel who as seen Curtis since birth, maybe he can explain a bit better and i will also ask for a copy of the letters from the last three appointments. thanks
