I just have to tell a story on Katie, GIJanet's daughter.

Last night some of us in the Dallas-Fort Worth area got together for dinner. Katie may be a 7-year-old who has 5 heart surgeries "under her shirt," as her mom says in her signature line, but she is a bundle of energy. While we adults ate and visited, Katie wanted to play charades.

Terms of the game: Katie does the charade. Whoever guess correctly has to pose the next charade.

Her dad won one time and proceeded to run two outstretched fingers from one wrist up to one shoulder and then did the same on the other arm, except he stopped at the middle of the forearm. He kept pointing to his wrist and the middle of the other forearm.

Katie's answer: A medicalert bracelet! :)

Of course, we broke out laughing. Now, how many 7-year-olds know what a medicalert bracelet is?

She did NOT win. The correct answer was shirt sleeves (or some variation of that).

I would love to be entertained by Katie. She's been a pistol from the get go and I really don't see that ever changing. I do feel sorry for Janet when she hits the teen years though.

I keep telling Janet she needs to write a book! If anyone is fearful that their life will be sad and depressing after surgery, they just need to look at Katie.

Thanks for sharing that story Marsha. That was so cute. Are'nt kids something else they are so versatile. It makes it so much fun to just watch them and their feelings on life in general. Katie is indeed a special little girl. :)

Ohh....what another CLASSIC Katie story!

Glad you shared that with us, Marsha. Sure wish I could've been there with ya'll....

Meeting Katie was a real pleasure for me. She is such a bundle of energy and pure happiness. She may not know it (maybe she does!) but she is a positive role model for kids and adults. I know from now on when I start feeling sorry for myself I will think of her and that full of life attitude of hers!
