Ok, I posted a question here yesterday and lost it! Oh well, here goes again. My mom is going to need Mitral valve repair or replacement surgery this week. The watch has been upgraded suddenly (as we all know it happens that fast!) . She wants to stay near her home at the Jersey shore. I would argue with this selection ,but we have found a surgeon who is a part of the surgical team I used for my BAV replacement who operates at the Jersey SHore Medical Center. My question is 3 fold:
Anyone out there have any experience with the Jersey Shore Medical Center?
Anyone hear of Dr. Drew Greeley (Cornell cardiac program training and Board certified in cardiothoraic surgery)
She is on coumadin for A fib and has been off 3 days thus far. Is 5 days off the norm for surgery?
My aunt, her sister, had one of the first Mitral valve repairs done 16 years ago at NYU and I am a BAV repair so we are truely keeping a family tradition alive!

I'm thinking that valve surgery came along just in time for your family. Your life expectancies would have been seriously shortened without it.
