The Space Shuttle Discovery launched today in the first ever 4th of July launch. From the NASA website:

With a rocket's red glare, Space Shuttle Discovery lifted off from Kennedy Space Center in a spectacular display of sound and light befitting of Independence Day.

I bet NASA was hoping for a few delays so the launch would be on the Fourth! :) Spectacular! Let's hear it for the red, white, and blue -- and say prayers for a safe journey and return.

I second 'Spectacular' !!!!!!!!!
Watched it with the kids ... we all loved it.
Praying now for a safe mission and safe return.

I hope & assume the engineers made sure it was safe first! It certainly must have been, she launched just fine. It was spectacular. But, it's 1970's technology. Would we be as happy on this board if OHS had come no further, technology-wise, than the late 1970's? :) Food for thought.....
