I've always had hard to control high blood pressure, but after my last surgery, it was a thing of beauty and I was thrilled. Now my systolic running in the 150's and 160's. THe diastolic is fine and my heart rate is in the high 50's or 60's. My cardio has put me on two calcium channel blockers, the most recent cardizem LA at 360 mg. It hasn't affected my pressure, but it does make me swell. Yesterday he added Hytrin 2 mg. This AM it is lower, but he wants me to continue the Cardizem. That makes no sense to me. Has anyone had this problem? I also take Diovan, 160 and Lasix, 40mg.
Any suggestions or ideas? I took Lopressor for years before my surgery, but this cardio is worried about lowering my heart rate to low. I feel like I need to take the lead here since he seems too conservative. I'm concerned about wearing out my porcine valve too quickly.
Thanks in advance for all suggestions and personal experiences.
