Recorded a blazing high of 7.3 this morning! I have kept my own INR records for years and have NEVER been that high.

I scored 7.3 on both a Coaguchek and a Protime machine. At least I helped the office prove how accurate their machines are.

Usually my test results are a tenth of a point or two low. Two weeks ago I was 2.3 so she upped my dose (primarily because I planned to stay on the same food plan) by an additional 1/2 tablet of 5.0 Warfarin, twice a week.

After this morning we concluded that I'm pretty sensitive to Warfarin and we won't mess with the dose again once I'm back in range. I've always tried to get the cardio nurse to forgo a dose adjustment when I'm only a few tenths off, but they insist they can only let me go for a monthly test if I'm in the 2.5-3.5 range.

I was told to hold today's dose and come back tomorrow to see if it slides down any or if I might need a dose of Vit.K (never had that either!). I exercise every dang day and have been eating dinner salads about 3-4 times a week with only 3 or 4 glasses of Merlot a week. No nose bleeds or any other unusual bleeding problems to report. Guess I have to write everything down again or eat a heckuva lot more salad.

Onward Coumadin Soldiers!

Hey Perry,
Maybe it is a change in the weather :D . I have been pretty steady at 3.0 to 3.4 and today I was at 4.3 and haven't changed a thing.
Glad you are doing OK.
Take Care

I suppose is would be stupid of me to ask you, since you've been on Coumadin for awhile, if you've done anything like been sick, changed any other meds etc? I can' picture a jump that high for the amount of increase you did. Suppose anything is possible. I've had some wild numbers come out of the blue myself at times.

It's Chicago  Last week I scored a 6.9 my friend. My activity sounds very consistant to yours.

If you look at some previous posts from fellow Chicagoans....you will see that we pretty much swing high or low at about the same time.

It must be the barometric presssure.

I feel returing tomorrow for a test will not show a huge change. I would wait until Wednesday. And, I am sure Al will be along to warn you agaist the K injections unless you are bleeding. That could send you into a vicious trend and keep the INR down for a good long time.

Hang in there. Keep us posted.

Instead of coloring the Chicago River green, maybe somebody is dumping D-con in it.
