I just heard Dennis Quaid say, on the preview to 60 Minutes, that his babies' blood got the consistency of water" so that it wouldn't clot. It's on now.

It was a good show actually. His misinformation regarding "blood thinners" isn't his fault I guess. I commend the Quaids for wanting to combat problem of medicine dosage errors (not sure I'm saying that correctly).

SEPARATE ISSUE: 60 Minutes did also did a story on sleep deprivation. In their small study, it showed that warning signs of future Type 2 Diabetes showed up in otherwise healthy, fit individuals with a few days of serious sleep deprivation.

Isaw bits and pieces of the interview. Wanted to know why they got blood thinners in the first place? They were just born why would they need blood thinners? I didnt hear the whole story so can sombody feel me in.... Thanks

They didn't need Heparin, but another drug entirely. The Heparin dosage each of them received was that of adults, not babies. Their dosages, I believe, were thousands of times stronger than normal for their size. They were fortunate little things to survive. The story also said that same thing happened in an Indianapolis hospital; six babies were given Heparin by mistake. Three of those babies died.
