Today I am 6 weeks post op, for my second mitral valve repair in 3 years..
Last time I got sick listening to the few people who had an uneventful recovery. I felt terrible right up to the time when I went back to work 3 months after.
Well, this time I I'm happy to report that I am one of the uneventful ones. I had and do have the expected pains and kinks, but I feel great, and nothing bad to report. I have a little high pulse, about 85 to 90 at rest. That seems to have gotten better with time.
Last week I started rehab, and was easily in the 150 range, with not a single issue, other than it making me tired.. I ended up the week with Fridays rehab, and got my pulse up to 163.. I love being monitored while pushing myself, and they kept a close eye on me and said that they intend to push me..
As I was walking on the treadmill, at 4.5 mph, I was thinking that I should be running.. Maybe this week I will throw in a few minutes of running here and there. I hope this good trend continues, as I am itching to get back to work.
