Hi all,

I could not wait to share this.
I went to see my cardiologist this morning for my 6 month check up.
He tells me everything is OK, we need an echo done every 1-2 years, other than that 6-12 mnth visits to him. He assured me that there is no leakage from either valve and when I questioned the use of mechanicals for me, he re-iterated that I would have definately had to have a re-op had I gone down the biological valve way. In his words he said , you are still young and we expect 25-30years of life ahead, so mechanicals are recommended.(the tic tic tic of life)
Well, life after valve repacement surgery is GOOD. At 6 month I feel GOOD. AT 12 month I hope to feel BETTER:)
Thank you ALL for the information you give freely and I always look forward the hearing your comments and real life information.:) :) :)

Great news. Glad to hear you're doing so well. Thanks for sharing your update as I'm sure it'll be of comfort to the newbies. Besting wishes continung.....

Thanks for the update- I'm sure it will be an inspiration for those in the waiting room. So glad that all has gone so well for you and wish you many happy "ticking" years.:D

Wonderul news. What a comfort to those of us waiting. I need an AVR and and a mitral valve repair so it's possible that I could need a double valve replacement as well. Never know what they will find when they open you up. So again so happy to hear you are doing so well.

I had a bovine aortic valve inserted. I'm 69 and very active but I read somewhere that if a person might be inclined to fall - that they don't like to implant a mechanical valve which could cause a lot of bleeding. I have peripheral neuropathy but haven't fallen for over two years. The Cleveland Heart Clinic does 82% natural valves - saying they last a lot long than the used to, and are often perscribed to younger people too - to avoid the blood thinners. I don't know but I wore my first valve out - running and lifting weights over 50 years. The surgeon and two va cardiologists said I had set myself up really well for this and that they wish others would do the same their jobs would be a lot easier. I assume they meant the long term of running. I'm hoping to live alongtime and not have to have a replacement.

Best wishes and keep us posted.

It's always scary but most times the operation goes smoothly - hopefully, soon you'll be telling us all about it.
