Hi There,

I had a MV Replacement, Tricuspid Repair on June 3, everything was going along for a couple of weeks as expected, then on 6/24 my visiting nurse said my heartrate was 42 and she would have to phone it in to the surgeon. After finally getting a phone call from the office, I was told that if "I felt I was going to pass out, get to the ER". Well I never felt I was going to pass out, so just kept appt with surgeon for recheck on 6/27. By that time, I had feet that looked like footballs and had tons of trouble breathing. The surgeon sent me to the cardi and said, "This needs to be addressed today". The next thing I knew I was in the hospital with Lasik IVs (sucking out 16# of fluid) and a pacemaker scheduled for the following morning. I was sent home Friday, and am beginning to feel human again. I asked the cardi if I had a diagnosis of CHF and he said "Absolutely not, this is just an isolated incident as a result of the surgery". I don't know if I am convinced. Totally off topic: how do you bold the thread title?

Anyone else have an experience similar to this?

SCARY!!! I'm no doctor but it probably was fluid build up and there should be no reason why you shouldn't be able to continue to a full recovery after that pacemaker being put in place. Just continue to follow up with docs closely and don't ignore symptoms, you know your body better then the doctors. Might be a good idea to go over meds that you are taking with doctors as well. BTW the thread title looks nice and bold from here.

Yes my ankles were at least twice their size and I did the IV lasix route ...I would suggest that you keep a daily journal recording all of your vitals (Weight, BP. resting HR both sitting and standing) you will see changes as soon as they need to be addressed in other words keep on top of it and provide your care team with all the tools...watch your diet for obvious and hidden sodium

I appreciate your advice and replies. I've started a weight chart and my pulse is now running in the 80's which is much, much better........and the change in energy is amazing! Thanks again!
