Hey, I did it !!! Last night I did my 'first' race since my surgery - 11 weeks.
It was humid and 'hot' - but I walked/jogged it.. It was so much FUN. I got to see all my running buddies and we chatted for hours after the race.. I took it very easy and waited to see how the valve and electrical would do during the race. Nothing - it did nothing - it was NORMAL.. NO ELECTRICAL activity and NO gasping for air.. :) I was so relieved. I actually cried on the way home - sheeer happiness - I couldn't believe I had finally done it.. It felt like a huge weight was taken off my shoulders. I had not lost my FUN activities in life.. I can't wait to get out there again... My running club president took a picture of me coming up to the finish line. I hope to god I didn't look FAT in the picture. I keep telling him don't take it unless I look "THIN".. He just laughs.. My hair must of looked a mess. He has a computerized camera - but it doesn't hide anything.

It was so good to get that 'first' race out of the way.

I can't wait to do my next one. :)

I haven't decided where to do it - they're calling for rain this weekend.. I can't see without windshield 'wipers' on my eyeglasses. I've been known to get lost once or twice on a course !! But we won't tell anyone - right !! :D

great job Marylyn. I too started racing after surgery and it was great. Keep up the good work.

Hi Syd :)

Hi Syd :)

Did you do the CIGNA race last night? There were thousands there. It was awesome. :D

I haven't decided where my next race will be. I'll Probably do a couple more races before I do the 5 miler Lobsterdash in Maine. I'd like to get rid of some of my butterflies... I'm soooo excited - everything worked fantastic with my heart and my electrical system was sooooo quiet... It was the 'first' time I've ever seen it this quiet.. I took it easy and did a walk/jog - I enjoyed myself immensely. They only had one water stop. But lots of after race goodies. I got a nice t-shirt to.. I haven't decided what race to do next. Have you seen any that you might do? There is one tomorrow in Newmarket - but it could get rained out. There's a really good race next Wednesday at the Loudon Race Track - its put on by the DARE police. They have pizzas and prizes and yogurt and you name it they got it.. Great food festivities.. Have you ever done that one? I love to look at the cops in their uniforms - hey it motivates me.. :) Alot of my friends do it.

Hope all is going well for you

We'll have to catch up one of these days at a race.. Now I think you have the AVR surgery ? WAs that a repair or replacement. The Great Isle has a great course race in the fall down in Rye. Its a fantastic course along the ocean and the foood is awesome. Lots of really gooood food.

If you see one your going to go to - let me know and I can meet you there and we can 'chat' and I can introduce you to my friends if we go to one of their races.. They hop all over the place.. I think they're going to Newmarket tomorrow.

Well, hope is going well - I think you did awesome in your triathlon - I would love to try a triathlon. They say its really hard to do.. Does someone watch your 'bike' when you go from one event to another. I would love to come and watch to see how they do it..

I think next weekend there's a 5k in Deerfield - next town over from me. Its a really small race - I got second place once there.. Its a 'small' race.. But its a very challenging course - I can see 'why' its small. I belong to the Rochester Runners Club - do you belong to any clubs. Rochester Runners have been wonderful to me.. They don't mind at all if I'm slow. You get points when you beat 'yourself' not the others.. Last year I was in first place with 74 points and I told them to take me out of the listings - I was getting to competitive - but I might go back on to it. It gives me alot of motivation. There was this other guy who got an ICD last year and two stents - he ran for awhile but now he's stopped - maybe its his ICD programming - he's a real nice guy.. He's done lots of marathons - including the Boston Marathon. Have you thought about joining a running club. You don't have to go fast and you don't have to do the races they do - its nice to get shoe discounts at the Red Shoe Barn... I get 20% off.

Well, just thought I'd catch up and see where your going next? Let me know how it turns out.. I shooting for the DARE race in Loudon - Its a good race an good food and good prizes.. I like this race..

See Ya
