Hey, I did it !!! Last night I did my 'first' race since my surgery - 11 weeks.
It was humid and 'hot' - but I walked/jogged it.. It was so much FUN. I got to see all my running buddies and we chatted for hours after the race.. I took it very easy and waited to see how the valve and electrical would do during the race. Nothing - it did nothing - it was NORMAL.. NO ELECTRICAL activity and NO gasping for air.. I was so relieved. I actually cried on the way home - sheeer happiness - I couldn't believe I had finally done it.. It felt like a huge weight was taken off my shoulders. I had not lost my FUN activities in life.. I can't wait to get out there again... My running club president took a picture of me coming up to the finish line. I hope to god I didn't look FAT in the picture. I keep telling him don't take it unless I look "THIN".. He just laughs.. My hair must of looked a mess. He has a computerized camera - but it doesn't hide anything.
It was so good to get that 'first' race out of the way.
I can't wait to do my next one.
I haven't decided where to do it - they're calling for rain this weekend.. I can't see without windshield 'wipers' on my eyeglasses. I've been known to get lost once or twice on a course !! But we won't tell anyone - right !!
