... Only after getting my surgeon involved (fortunately he was still alive) did Edwards Lifesciences issue me a wallet ID card. The ID card lists the model number as "UNK-STARREW" and s/n "UNK-178". I think "UNK" stands for "UNKNOWN". One of the things I stress with the valve patients I visit with in the hospital is to be sure they get a permanent ID from the manufacturer of their valve and not rely on the temporary card they get from the hospital. I actually went about 42 years before needing an ID card and was refused a test because I didn't have one.....needles to say, it was a pain in the A-- to get an ID card that long after the fact.

you're welcome
interestingly I don't think we do this in Australia, and yes, I think we should because I have had MRI scans refused because the overly cautious receptionists refused to make a booking because I have a metal valve in me (of course they think in their own minds they have multiple qualifications in advanced materials sciences).
It would have saved me a hassle when I needed an MRI on my knee...

As a matter of interest St jude actually list their mri safety specs on their website
Congratulations!Today is the 51st anniversary of my OHS 8/16/67......and my docs said my valve would only last 50 years. I'm glad they where wrong:Smile:
