Congratulations on your anniversary! May you have a full lifetime of continued good health.

I'd like to tell everyone what a wonderful site you have and if no one has peeked at it, do take a look and read. It's very informative and is done with a light-hearted touch. For those who haven't had this surgery yet, you'll learn a lot and will actually enjoy reading about Steve's experiences.

Thanks Nancy for you kind words and support. Keep spreadin' the word!

All the best to you and Joe

:) Steve

Anniversary

Anniversary

Hi Steve, yours was one of only three sites (Cleveland Clinic and the one from England) that I could find three years ago when I began my climb up this mountain...scared and terrified. I am a person who needs to be informed, but finding much was certainly a task that was not easy to do. I am eternally grateful to you for your source.

Now three years ago, I , like you said, forget about the surgery or the big scare of the congestive heart failure most of the time. I am so fortunate in that I have recovered completely...everything recovered to normal ranges. I farm, teach school, run or walk or cycle and generally feel better than I did for years...decades ... before surgery. I even refrain from posting too much in that I feel like a pollyanna when so many others are still having troubles. But I do feel great.

Keep up the good work for all of us.

Hey Jean,

Glad to hear you are doing so well!

All the best, Steve'

Congrats

Congrats

Congratulations on this milestone, Steve! Also please know that I read your Bum Ticker pages end to end before my surgery and found them very interesting and informative.

Keep it up!

Hey Steve!

Four years already?? Unbelievable! Congratulations, and many more good years to you! Somehow I found your site two years ago, before I found this one, and I read your story beginning to end, with terror in my poor little heart! But it was exactly what I needed to read - all the gory details. Facing an unknown can be so much worse than facing a bad "known". And after I read it, for the first time it occurred to me that people actually live through this, and move on to regular life - there is LIFE after this surgery. So, thank you so much for your site, and I'm glad to hear that piggy is still ticking!

So good to hear about you.....

So good to hear about you.....

Hey Steve, remember me! I am Sue from Florida and we went through this surgery almost together. I followed you just a few months and was a voracious reader of your web site as you chronicled your experience. Gosh, it is soooo great to hear that you are doing so well. I think about all us who go back to the late 90's and wonder how all are doing. I, too, am just fine and like you, with the exception of the coumadin thing, got in the groove and went on with life---life will happen no matter what our plans are! I am still working hard, but not traveling as much (a blessing and a curse) and my daughter is about to graduate from Univ of FL and go on to medical school. I do exercise though and that really helps keep it all together for me--that and a little wine! I don't exactly remember how, but during the course of my recovery, I got into aromatherapy which is now my #1 avocation (a nice change from the accounting routine). Am soooo glad to hear about you though and that you are happy and well. Your music is great--would love to get up there and hear it in person--I want to order your Gumbo CD. So much for now, but thanks for sharing! Sue:cool:
