My AVR will be four weeks from today, so I'm one third of the way there.

My "bad" tooth comes out Monday, and I've got a large mole on my back that sometimes irritates me, so I'm getting that taken off on Wednesday, just in case.

It's amazing: It usually takes so long to schedule Dr. appointments and dental work, but when I tell them I'm having OHS and will be on coumadin afterwards, they *magically* have openings for me right away! I do appreciate their cooperation, but I think I'm getting spoiled and am going to miss it when I'm post-OHS.

On another note, I spoke with my friend George, who is post-AVR 8 days now. He is doing really well and is happy with his choice of a porcine valve. He's lurked around this site a few times, and I've encouraged him to register and start contributing. Are you out there, George?

To my fellow waiting-room occupants:

What do we have to do to get some decent magazines in here?:p

Bill,

I've experienced pretty much the same thing, although my choice of valve has not been written in stone yet. I'm leaning towards the ross procedure, but I won't know if that's possible until my cardio refers me to a surgeon at Duke (still a work in progress).

Isn't it amazing how those appointments just open right up though? Makes one tempted to use that line all the time. :D

As for the magazines, usually when I'm in the waiting room I have a hard time reading anyway, so it doesn't matter if they're old or not. I'm no good in waiting rooms, especially this one!. I wish they could give me a pager when I check in so I could go wander around or pace the halls. Better yet...call ahead seating like restaurants do!

Right now it looks like some time in March for me at the rate things are going.

Bill, hopefully by the time you're set to go in I will be back out.

Mine will be exactly three weeks from yesterday. I've gotten to the point where, if I am not exactly looking forward to it, I am very glad that it's going to be SOON. Wonder whether I will feel that way when I'm only ONE week away????

And I still don't know what kind of valve I'd be getting if the repair doesn't work out!

[Ain't nuthin in THIS waiting room except some very old copies of "People."]
