Three weeks ago today, I was just coming out of surgery. I am doing really well. I still do not have too much energy but I can do a lot if I take my time.
Yesterday was my husband's birthday and we went out to lunch. Today we went to the grocery store. Ot course I just pointed to stuff and my husband put it in the basket. Then he also put the stuff on the belt and put it in the car. When we got home he carried the groceries in and unpacked them. I could get used to this.:D
I sleep quite well. I take a long nap every afternoon. Then I go to bed around midnight or 1:00 AM and sleep all night until about 7:00 or 7:30 AM. I do not need anything to help me sleep. I am able to sleep on my right side just like before surgery. I have a good appetite. I do not have any pain, just sore muscles like shoulders but it is really not bad at all.
Looks like I am on the mend.

Sounds like everything is going super. I will pray that things continue on this path.

You have the routine down pat. Take advantage of the assistance while you can. It seems like it ends way to soon.:( :( :(

Sounds like the "model" recovery, Praline- keep up the good work. Maybe your husband will like his new chores so much that he will continue to do them when you are completely recovered.:D

I'm very happy for you. It's a good time. An ordeal has passed, and now you can revel in your gathering strength, and look forward without fear.

Very best wishes,

Sounds like you are doing exceptionally well. I keep remembering how nervous you were before surgery ( just like all the rest of us). You seem to be overcoming obstacles rather quickly. I know I could not sleep on my side for about 6 weeks. Keep up the good work.

Praline, So nice to hear such a good report! I think it will be easier from here on. Just give yourself the time, and do your walking. Your recovery will start to build some good momentum! Thanks for yet another thing to smile about!:) Brian

great news on the recovery

great news on the recovery

Hi Praline,

Your recovery sounds like it is going well. My husband's surgury was three weeks ago yesterday and he is doing quite well considering he had neurologic problems after the surgury. We just got back from the follow-up surgury appointment tonight and the Dr. was very happy with the way things are going so far, but urged Tim to not think about going back to work for a least another month. He is also very tired like you mentioned, but for the first time today we went out for lunch, he got a haircut and we went to the sugeon's office!!

Hope all continues to go great!!!!

Jen

Praline, that all sounds good! Enjoy all that catering now though because you will most likely have days when your energy takes takes a dive and you are no longer getting the extra special TLC. If (when) that happens remember that is perfectly fine too. Now, didn't the last 3 weeks go by faster than the 3 before surgery?

I'm so glad everything is going well!

Jen, I'm glad Tim is doing better too. There is something about getting a haircut that makes life seem normal again. When I was still in the hospital after surgery there was a hairdresser who regularily came to the unit and, for a fee of course, washed and styled patients' hair. It felt so wonderful! It, and thinking about all the flowers in my room are my best memories about my stay.

Praline, sounds like you are right on course. From here on out things will greatly improve. I'm so glad that your husband is helping. They can do things when they want too! :) :)

Yup, the boys come through. I used to engineer every load of laundry, because he thought "sorting" meant all cottons together and all others together.

And he learned to make the bed correctly; and sweep and vacuum and dust. But he's mostly forgotten now . . .

:) I'm pleased to hear that you are well on your way to recovery and that your not having too much discomfort. I'ts very encouraging to those of us yet to climb the mountain.

Good for you!

Good for you!

Hi Praline,

I'm so happy to hear things are moving right along for you. You are a trooper! Continue to take it easy. I just passed my four week mark and the difference between 3 and 4 weeks post-op was huge for me. I regained a great deal of strength at week four. I wish the same for you.

Enjoy being worshipped. :p

it sounds like you are doing so well. Congratulations on your "easy" recovery. ;) I remember I had to take something for sleep as I was just so nervous still and also I felt like I was in a fog at that point in recovery.

Keep up the good work!

God bless -

Thank you

Thank you

Thank you for all your good wishes. I guess I am having a pretty easy recovery so far...Knock on wood:)
I am also enjoying the time off. I love to read , watch TV. do nothing..:) I read 4 books the 12 days I was in the hospital. I am still reading now that I am home. I am surprised at how much I can do. Tonight I cooked dinner, nothing fancy, just sticking stuff in the oven.. Later I did the dishes. Earlier today I went to the store to get dog food.
I have not driven yet. My husband drives and I ride. Coul dnot walk outside today..too cool and windy and damp..it drizzled part of the day. We are supposed to get thunder storms during the night.

Hi Praline!

Sounds like you're having a great recovery. Your energy level sounds really good. Hope I do that well!

I couldn't sleep, so decided to get on here and check up on everyone.

More when I get back to Florida.
