It's another Halloween and that means another anniversary. It has been 25 years since my first valve replacement. I am amazed that it's been so long and things are going so well since my last replacement.

I just pray I am around for 50 years (I will be 78) or even longer. 78 is starting to sound reasonable since I did not really expect to make it this far and here I am.

So, all you young-uns out there, be encouraged. There are a number of us that have been around doing this for a long time (just look at RCB & Joanne for examples !!!!).

Congratulations young lady! Good for you...and vr.com. You're an inspiration to this forum and I always enjoy reading your posts.

Gina,

Gina,

First off, may I tell you that I think you are "cuter than a bug" (Iowa phrase)!! You have an adorable face!

Also, congratulations on your major, major milestone!

I will have you know that I am a medical transcriptionist - I work out of the home and also PT transcriptionist in a hospital (in-house). I am always transcribing notes on people with valve replacements who have had them for years and years - who live to ripe old ages.

Also, there was one note in particular - an 80-something-year-old woman who had had her mitral valve replacement for 30-some years and the doctor dictated that she "looked far younger than her stated age." :)

I am hoping that a doctor somewhere will be dictating that about you when you are 85, with excellent health as an aside!! ;)

God bless -

Christina L

Congratulations on your anniversary!
I hope I can be sending out a similar note in 24+ years when I'll be pressing 75!

Congratulations Gina! - I hope you get at least 50 too! You are a lovely person to know and we are all better for knowing you.

Congratulations on such a great milestone and we wish you at least another 25 years and more. You are truly an inspirations for all! :)

Congratulations Gina, 25 years is quite a milestone!
I'm sure you will reach 50 (my crystal ball says so!) :)

Thanks to all of you. I hope we come to find out that those of us with artificial valves actually live longer than those folks who haven't had the experiences we have (and the vast majority of my "heart experiences" have been great).

Christina - you are so sweet. I owe any complements to my mom since I look so much like her and, having a round face, I have avoided wrinkles. Who says "chubby cheeks" are bad?

Ross - my life would not have been complete without you in it.

Gina, that is such a wonderful milestone. I hope you make 50+ on your newest valve! Maybe in years to come, when our stats our compiled, life insurance companies will not only be writing us policies but giving us discounts. :)

From your mouth to God's ears on both. I would really love 50+ on my newest which would put me at 92 - can you imagine what changes there will be by then?

Gina,
Happy Anniversary! I'm just questioning your semantics -- I thought WE were the young ones??????? :D

Wow 25 years, i must say you look pretty good for it. When my baby makes it that far he will be 32. Congratulations :)

Gina:

You are not only encouraging by what you write, but you also live as an encouraging example! Thanks.

CONGRATULATIONS...... your valve has lasted longer than i have been alive.. that is very encouraging.... keep on tickin'

Gina,

A belated CONGRATULATIONS to you :).

Ironically, as I read the thread, I marveled at the idea of 25 years ... then, I realized my first open heart surgery was in 1977 ... a few years shy of 30 years ago....and I thought, man, I'm old ;). He he he ... irony rocks ;).

Oh, Gina...................

Oh, Gina...................

I've been sick............. :( but many, many happy belated anniversary wishes for you and your significant other............. :D heehee! and I don't mean Chris. You and RCB and Katie can all celebrate together. I already told RCB that y'all will have to celebrate without me as Katie is aging me about ten years for every one calendar year............. :D I'll be smiling down from above (at least I hope it's from above instead of leering from below.........heehee!).

You KNOW you are our mentor and hero (ine)! Much love. J. P.s. I love your new avatar!
