Good morning all....I'm looking at the clock and thinking that in 24 hours I'll be in surgery getting my new valve. I just wanted to take the time to thank you all for sharing this part of your lives with me. You are all such kind, friendly and caring people. Ive read with deep interest all of your posts and they have been so informative and such a source of comfort to me. Partly because of all I have read here, I have no fear or anxiety and look forward to starting the second part of my life feeling much better with my new Valve. For those having surgery after me, as soon as I am able I will share my experience with you. Again, thank you to each and every one of you wonderful people. Mike

Good luck to you tomorrow. If possible, please have someone post on your behalf in post surgery when your done. We sit around biting our nails like expectant parents until we know the person is safely in recovery.

We'll be waiting to hear how it went for you, and spiritually, we'll all be with you as they wheel you in to the OR to make you a new man.

If you're a blade razor user, pack that sucker. They only give you electric ones in the hospital, and if you're anything like me, that 5:00 shadow gets pretty bad 2 or 3 days later ;) Maybe think about packing your cell phone charger too if you're a heavy texter (I was texting right in front of 'em and they didn't seem to mind, even though the official policy is no cell phones). And if you have a laptop, consider bringing it and your charger too, just in case you feel up to getting online. It can get boring in there after the first couple days when you start feeling better and you can only watch so much TV, lol. And I think most hospitals have wireless now (the two I was in recently both did).

Looking forward to hearing from you when you're up to it, and glad you're relatively at peace going in - sounds similar to how I felt going in (and like you, this forum had a LOT to do with my peace of mind). Oh, and have fun with all those pre-surgery meds they will probably give you today to "clean you out", up your potassium, etc, etc. I forgot about all that 'till just now, lol. Best of luck Mike, and talk to ya on the other side!

Good luck with your surgery. Hope all goes smoothly and you have a fast, bump free recovery.
We'll be waiting to hear from you.

Well it seems the surgeon wants a CAT scan of all minimally invasive AVR patients now...so i am off to a CAT scan at 820pm eastern time and also my surgery was moved up two hours in the am. So i have to be at the hospital at 530am......ill have the CAT scan ..rush home and sleep fast to get to the hospital to be put back to sleep......Life is an Adventure lol......Mike

Best of luck my friend, we'll be waiting on this side of the mountain for you! Don't worry about sleep tonight, there will be plenty of that in the coming days! :)
