Well it was bound to happen sooner or later so here I sit stuffed up, coughing, nose running, and it seems to be moving into my chest. I don't feel real bad but definitely not good either.

So the question is.....Can I take typical OTC products ? Tylenol Cold ? Nasal Sprays ? Anything I need to be concerned about before I start loading up ? I know Advil and Aleve are off limits, anyone hear of concerns with cold products ?

Some will tell you no. Now if you want to listen to me, I'll tell you take anything that works for you. If your having a nice dark green discharge from the schnoz, get thee to the Doc for some Vibramycin or equivilent and kick this thing in the butt asap. The thing I'm speaking of screwed me up during my hatching and lasted for nearly 10 days and would have for longer had I not seen the Doc.

You can get a FREE consult with your Pharmacist any time they are open. Be sure he has a list of ALL of your Medications and knows the important parts of your medical history.

Or use Ross' favorite RX prescription Comparison Website (the address is abour 4 lines long but he posted the link recently).

Or Google "Rx Interactions" or something similar.

Hello Ctyguy,

I took Coricidin HBP this past winter, during the day. At night I put the Nyquil to me. It worked good for me and I had no issues at all.
Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Hey Ctyguy,
if its going into your chest, best to see your doc for some antibiotics.
As for myself, I've only taken Clairiton for running nose, zinc for a sore throat.

Good Luck and I hope your feeling better soon.

It was three years post op before I ever got the crud .... put off going to the doc trying to treat with OTC stuff .... mistake.... you may want to go and get some antibiotics before you get sick sick....

well im two days now on OTC stuff and all I have to show for it is a very tender nose from all the draining and wiping. It hasn't gotten any worse but it hasn't gotten any better either. Today the wife convinced me to go for a run with her (stick to the schedule we have for a 1/2 marathon in May). So the plan was 6 miles. By mile two I must have sneezed 50 times and was constantly wiping my runny nose. I thought I could run the cold out of me. Actually I think it made it worse :) I managed 4 miles and then I was done.

If Im not improved by end-of-day tomorrow I'm off to the doc's office.

Sorry you have the "crud".:( I found mucinex works good and I take zinc too for a cold. I am told I can take nyquil but I haven't had to use it. Hope you are feeling better. You are a trooper, if I have a cold there is no way I am running around the block, let alone 4 miles:eek:

I feel for you my friend! I have been very sick this week myself, the sneezing, wheezing, pain that runs from my right ear down to my throat & compacted sinuses.

I finally had to break down Friday & go for some antibiotics because I knew that I'd never kick it with OTC meds & I didn't even try! The doctor gave me some Levaquin (?) & it is drying me up & I'm feeling a whole lot better!

Go to the doctor so that you'll get over this stuff soon!

Hope you get to feeling better soon! :)
