Hello, I'm 24 years old ( married ) and I'm 19 weeks pregnant i had two surgeries in the past and I'm gonna need a third one in the future, and I want to know if the pregnancy would have any health risks my doctor here In Kuwait said it would be ok to get pregnant i may experiences some difficultly during the pregnancy but that's normal but my parents still very worried and they are not sure if i could handle it, so I've sent my reports to the Boston children's hospital and waiting for their reply, is Boston hospital the best choice? before i had a surgery in the cleveland clinic but my doctore is retired now ... what do you think ? and do you have a better suggestion for the best valve replacment in the united states incase i needed a third operation during my pregnancy

here is my heart condition:
-CONGNTAL HEART DISEASE
-SUBAORTIC STENOSIS
-POST STATUS TWO CARIAC SURGERIES TO RELIEVE LEFT VENTRICULAR OUTFLOW TRACT
-SEVERE AORTIC REGURGITATION AND MILD AORTIC STENOSIS
-BORDERLINE LEFT VENTRICULAR FUNCTION ( IMPAIRED IN VIEW OF SEVERE AORTIC REGURITATION )
-VENTRICUALR ECTOPICS - SINGLE COUPLET AND TRIPPLET

I don't think any of us are able to answer your question regarding your pregnancy posing any health risks to you, only a doctor who is familiar with the function of your heart can answer that. I can tell you as someone who also has a congenital heart condition that I was fine throughout my pregnancies, but was not really allowed to push with either of my children, instead they used vacuum assistance in my deliveries. When I had my valve replaced 5 years ago, I was told at that time that they really didn't think it would be wise for me to get pregnant (no worries, I was 45 and had no interest!) because they felt my heart function couldn't handle it at that time. There have been several members on here who have successfully carried babies, both post op and pre op.

As far as places to seek out surgical opinions, Boston's children's is recognized as a leader in CHD, certainly. So is CHOP in Philly and Mayo in Rochester, MN. While CC may be rated #1 for cardiovascular, they are not generally known for taking care of CHD patients.

Good luck to you!

Boston's Children's and CHOP both have outstanding reputations as kfay above has posted.

Sending you best wishes.....
