The surgeon was able to spare my valve, which was great. Surgery was apparently a tough one and I required several blood product transfusions and reacted poorly to many of the post op medications. But here I am, 16 days post, and in general I'm doing pretty well - multiple daily walks, good appetite, and minimal pain. I have two problems I wanted to bring up and see if they're "normal" or shared by anyone. Everyday around midday I have a "panic attack", HR spikes (around 100) and BP spikes (not usually too bad) but I feel faint and very panicky. After about 1-2 hours of laying and breathing I get over it. These "attacks" take a lot out of me, and I know it's not good for my heart to be working so hard. A few times I've taken a Xanax to help myself out of them, but I'm trying to limit Xanax use due to my second problem - sleeping. That 1.5 mg Xanax is the only thing that's helping me get 3-4 hours of sleep each night. Anyway, my main question are the seemingly random afternoon panic attacks. They don't seem triggered by anything. Is this common?
